Once-a-year Labor Day Sale — 26% off + free shipping, this weekend only. Ends Monday at midnight. Use code LABORDAY26 at checkout.

Purgatory Chasm has been pulling people in for longer than anyone's been photographing it. Carved by glaciers and still being reshaped by the tide, it splits open along the rocks just off Second Beach in Middletown, and it's carried its own stories for generations — from the "Devil's Footprint" pressed into the stone to the old legend of a man who leapt across it chasing the woman he loved and never made it to the other side.

I spent weeks in the summer of 2020, in the middle of COVID, swimming back into this chasm over and over — chasing the one combination of tide, light, and time of day that would actually do it justice. If you've spent real time on Aquidneck Island, you know this place: cutting through the trees to the footbridge, watching the swell roll through from above, or swimming into it yourself to feel that pull of the tide up close. There's a kind of magic to it that's hard to explain to anyone who hasn't stood there — the kind of place people carry with them whether they still live on the island or moved away years ago. "Paradise In Purgatory" is what I came home with.

Each print is made to order on high-quality fine art archival matte photo paper, signed by Brian. Available in three sizes, framing available by request, free shipping across the continental U.S.

I only put this print on sale once a year, and this is it — 26% off through Labor Day, then it's back to full price until next September. If Aquidneck Island means something to you, don't wait on this one. Once Monday night hits, it's gone until next year.
